Our services
For me, good upholstery isn't simply about putting new fabric on old furniture. It's about understanding the piece, making careful decisions and doing the work properly.
I enjoy working directly with people and their furniture - understanding what makes a particular piece important to them, working out how it should be restored, helping them choose the right fabric and materials, and seeing it through to completion.
I can help you with all of the following:
❋ Domestic Upholstery
I provide bespoke upholstery and reupholstery for private clients, from individual dining chairs and armchairs to sofas, footstools and larger pieces.
Whether it's a well-loved piece of contemporary furniture or an older chair that deserves to be restored, I offer a personal service tailored to the individual piece.
❋ Mid-Century & Designer Furniture
I specialise in the restoration and reupholstery of mid-century and designer furniture, with particular experience in sculptural chairs and complex upholstered forms.
The work often involves more than just replacing the fabric. Understanding the original construction, proportions and materials is essential to restoring the character of the piece.
❋ Commercial & Trade Upholstery
I also work directly with interior designers, architects, prop companies, production companies and vintage furniture dealers.
My independent studio allows me to work closely with trade clients on individual pieces and bespoke projects, with direct communication throughout.
❋ Traditional or Modern Upholstery
I work with traditionally sprung and hand-made furniture as well as contemporary foam-based construction. I’ll always recommend the appropriate approach for each piece.
This means I can work across a wide range of furniture — from a traditionally upholstered armchair to a modern sofa, or a highly sculptural mid-century chair.

A passion for fabrics
Fabric is an important part of the character of any upholstered piece, and choosing the right one is the fun bit. I offer a sampling service, as well as in person fabric consultations. I have trade accounts with many of the best fabric houses and can usually supply your chosen fabric.
I work closely with you to find a fabric that feels right for both the furniture and the person who will live with it. The choice needs to balance practicality and durability with colour, texture and style, while remaining sympathetic to the original design and period of the piece.
For a mid-century chair, for example, the right fabric can enhance its sculptural form without competing with it. For a much-loved everyday sofa, practicality and durability may take greater priority - but you don’t have to compromise on style.
I can guide you through the options, from colour and texture to performance and suitability, so that the finished piece feels considered rather than simply newly covered.
Materials
Thoughtful choices
I offer a broad range of upholstery materials, from conventional industry-standard options through to more environmentally conscious alternatives.
Where appropriate, I can explore natural, renewable and recycled materials, depending on the construction of the furniture and the requirements of the project.
My approach is always to balance appearance, comfort, durability, longevity and environmental considerations.
If you'd like to explore lower-impact materials for your project, we can discuss the options before work begins.
